these two weeks have been really hectic.... events from CWS have taken up my weekends but it was well spent.... on the 10th of july, we had our very own merchandise sale at Heeren.. we were understaffed cos most ppl didn't want to do sat morning.. i guess i wouldn't want to also.. sleep in on sat would be nice.... :o) anyway, I was there early... settled my issues with the gym and I made my way there.. the guys were setting up the tables for CWS... the guy was nice enough cos he tried to get me more chairs and tables when I said it was not sufficient for us... finally Jolanda arrived with the panels and merchandise... only then we realised that we forgot the handles for the panels... Jolanda offered to go back to grab it and some more posters for us.... *thanks lots!*
after my opening stock count, we finally managed to start business at 12... start of the 8 gruelling hours.... business was good... people were interested in the things we do, the way we help the stray cats... met a couple of interesting people... this guy from SPCA who's a volunteer... bought shirts that didn't fit him... didn't want to sell it to him initially cos i see no point in buying a shirt or shirts that didn't fit him... no doubt we need funds but i dun wish to let people pay for things that they didn't need... but he said he just wanted to help the stray cats... he asked about the joint event we have together with the rest, told him it was next week and he promised to be back... also met another couple that came by to say that they love cats and they imported their cats all the way from Holland... the guy's from Holland and she's from Portugal... interesting combination... that's the fun of doing merchandising... reaching out to the public and getting to know people.... of course, this includes the volunteers that come for events... some of them are my good friends now whom I keep in contact on a regular basis...
after that weekend, i was really tired cos i stayed there for 8 whole hours each day and I had to be on my toes, always noticing what people are buying and what goes, what comments people give us and the suggestions that they offer to us... talking to my volunteers to find out what kind of merchandise that would sell... afterall, we are on the floor... but we might have different feel about the whole thing... it's an exchange of opinions and it felt good... took the remaining merchandise back to the store and counted money... wanted to have dinner with colin but we weren't exactly hungry.. he was tired so he sent me to the nearby station and I took a cab back... my head was spinning from the lack of food so i had some food... went to bed... ahhhhh... bed.... and of course... i had my favourite guy.. boy boy in bed with me....purring next to me...
monday was a day which i went shopping and all.... bought some stuff that i needed and it felt good cos it has been a long time since i went shopping... but the friend i was out with had some personal problems so she was very troubled... kept apologising to me about it... hey girl, nothing wrong with it.. we all get our moods... got home to prepare for my cardio class... found out that boy boy is sick.. he's running a high temperature... rushed him to Mount Pleasant and vet found out that he's running a high temperature *yeah, tell me something else* might be caused by a blood disorder... so he needs to go through a blood test... he has very high red blood count... vet advised that he stays overnight to observe and let his temperature drop.... so i had to leave my boy there.... miss him badly!!!! called again on tues to check on him... still cannot go home... can go home only on wed... meow meow missing boy boy also... finally can bring him home.. so happy!!! though he's nagging at me for leaving him there for two whole days, i can see that he is just happy to be home, to be with meow meow and his ever familiar bed... but then again, the bill costs a bomb... so it killed all my savings... shit!
sat was another event for the CWS.. this time it is a joint venture... we never expected the tent to be SSSSOOOOOO small!!! everyone was cramped inside and the speakers were so near to us that it scared the kitties.. all of them were shivering and scared from all the people poking at them... told dennis that if he's not gonna do something about it.. we are gonna move out of the whole event... maybe it was the way i said it.. some things did get changed and he did it really fast... * woohoo! * things were better but the location was not ideal and we didn't get as much attention as we wanted... richard came down with the sister... gosh, they look really alike... * duh, they are siblings! * finally made it through to the end of first day... went back to count my stock.. find the mugs and all.... made some discovery in the store and was trying to get everything in order for the big move... tough doing everything on my own.. but i'm glad i have dawn and the rest whom i can count on when i yell for help... they have also been so tolerant with me when i make mistakes during my first two events without serina.. constantly offering me tips on how to get things done and who to contact... now my knowledge of the society has expanded a whole lot as my responsibilities increase... puts me in perspective about what kind of work i need to put in..
on sun, malcolm came down for event.... his bald head looks so cute.. he still looks handsome... and his face cleared up a whole lot...had dinner together with lorraine... got him the AP bag and animal protector badge... all thanks to dennis... he's been a great help all these while... finally made it home for dinner... finally got some time to run through the work which Richard wanted... sat down at starbucks to think through the processes and all... somehow things are just simple... i guess if we made it simple, it is so easy... but then again, humans can be very complicated... so even our processes are simple, maybe rolling it out might be tough... but i still to my belief that things can always be improved on..... finally finished the level 1 diagram.. went to work early to get things typed out and everything... reflected on things and finished it before sending it out...
looking back, it has been a tough time as the events come rolling in week after week... but it has been a good exposure... learnt a lot during these two weeks... be it at work or at CWS, lots of new information and knowledge gained... at work, i have learnt lots from Richard, be it profiling customers/people or the process flow... it has been enriching... at CWS, it was seeing what other groups of people are doing for the society... seeing them at work gave me the new courage to move on when i feel so tired about coordinating.... :o)
