After weeks of missing each other due to our busy schedules, mr martian and i finally met up for our usual coffee session... he had planned to meet me at 830pm.. but as usual, it was pushed back till 930... for one moment, i thought it's gonna be a cancelled thingy again...
Mr Martian had been travelling a fair bit due to work and we updated each other with so and so getting married, having a new fling, changed new jobs, coping with jobs etc... then Mr Martian suddenly realised that he hasn't collected money for andy's and my birthday present.. well, i told him it's been a disappointing time of the year esp birthdays cos since I stopped initiating the birthday present thingy, everybody seems to have forgotten... and it happens usually around my birthday.. tsk tsk tsk...
then i said, " i think we can be prepared to celebrate xmas separately this yr"... "HUH?!" was his reply... came as a shock to me cos he is usually the one with lots of plans and I'm the one who will always be at home listening to " Have yourself a merry little xmas" on my lappy... This yr, Nitin said he wanted to come over but since Deepavali, there has been no sound no picture from him.. so i assume it's off.. so I shall be singing xmas carols with my two little fellas at home...
then on my way home, i thought about xmas presents.. what should i get for xmas presents this yr?who should i give to? All the time, i believed that xmas is the season of giving...but judging from the comments i got, i realised that my genuine love for giving is just plain waste of money... i remembered one of my friend who got one of my handmade present said, " i dunno what to do with this leh!" and then some other friends gave me presents which simply tells me that they didn't even think about what to get.. just found something that happened to be lying around the house or was a free gift and wrapped it up and chucked it to me... i've gotten things like moisturiser that used to be bundled as a free gift.. the label was still on the moisturiser packaging.. and i've also got this really "auntie" bag from a friend who claimed that it's really expensive and was the latest fashion in Japan... well, the bag USED to be expensive and USED to be a fashion in Japan many years ago... the poor bag showed signs of mould... what else can I say? Although I love bags, I dun just take in ALL bags... so after all those lessons, this yr i finally decided, i shall just give presents to those whom will love the presents i got them.. i'm not gonna be bothered with scrooges who dun want to spend money once a yr on a worthy friend... In local terms we call them Kiam Ka Na....
oh well, shall play by ear.. shall update soon!
