soka youth cultural festival...

on sun, i was invited by mayling for the soka youth cultural festival... well, i was supposed to be helping out but due to *ahem* somebody,i had to pull out.... so since i didn't manage to get involved physically, mayling was nice enough to get one ticket for me to go watch the performance... she wanted to get me another ticket so i can bring another friend along but i told her it's fine... i can go alone... afterall, i realised for all her soka performances, be it friday rendevous or youth festival, i always went alone... maybe cos i felt i'm not sure if anybody else was interested in such events, especially when religion is involved...

anyway, arrived early for the performance cos brother drove me there and i arrived at 230pm when the performance is at 4pm!! can you imagine that ppl were already queuing at the door waiting to go in.. and i'm talking about lots of ppl!

theme of the performance is ' You are a star!', so everything surrounded the galaxy and how to shine brightly as a star...the performance was good.. exciting and required audience participation... it's nice to be surrounded by nice ppl who are genuinely nice.. they are naturally polite and all... it's a comfortable feeling to be in that community despite me being a christian...

here's some pics of the post performance celebration.. after the performance, the sports hall turned into a huge disco.... too bad i couldn't join them... really shared their happiness and satisfaction after the completness of the whole event...

oh, got souvenirs as well...


the silver star is handmade by the members.. ironed and sew by them... altogether they made 8000 pieces.. can u imagine that?? The white one is a fan that is sold to us at a cheap price of S$2..really unique... there is a small latch on top of each flap to hold the fan together... the other one is the brochure that we got when we were ushered in.

overall, i would love to go for such performances again.. after the performance, it made me realise that you dun have to do great things to make your life fulfiling... small things that they do such as participation in events, ushering or even sewing souvenirs made them a star as they contributed in one way or another... using their care and concern to make ppl's life a little brighter... :o)
