Weekend finally arrived after one full long week at work with lots of complaints from boss and covering up for colleagues...
sat has become a routine for me to go visit Gary's parents in the morning and leave them alone with their mahjong kakis in the afternoon... heard from auntie that uncle won quite a bit last week and their kakis are here for revenge...* hehe* uncle's followup visits to the hospital has been fixed on sat mornings so i can bring them to the hospital for follow up as well as spend time with them..
this sat, i had to rush from boon lay to town cos i'm meeting sin lay and huey ming... it's been close to a yr since we last met and huey ming has changed a new job so she called and asked if we wanted to meet.... as usual, ladies will always be ladies... huey ming was late for half an hour while sin lay an hour... oh well, i had a nice time on my own looking around while waiting for them... had a nice time chatting and found out that huey ming has turned to become a financial adviser... while sin lay has become a mother of one... jarrod stopped by for a while with his gf... and as usual, he promised to meet some time later... * it never happens* well, the gathering this time turned out to be quite ok... not really close with them so there were awkward silences and all... after that,i spent my time at home.. lounging with my cats and watching tv..... kinda boring sat for me.. esp when me and the gang used to meet up every weekend on sat....
On sun, the gang and I finally managed to make a trip down to JB...it seems to be the trip of the year for me cos everybody is so busy with work and other friends that our timing could never meet and this trip seemed to be god sent...
We met at Kranji mrt station at one with JJ being the first to arrive for once.. * yay!* most of us were late but YB came almost 45 mins later..... *tsk tsk*.... so we boarded the bus and got ourselves across the causeway and me and andy needed to fill in the white card while the rest got theirs done beforehand.... of course, me and andy were inexperienced when it came to such things... andy has never been out of country while for me, it's never been a bus trip for me... has always been planes for me... i never had to change much of the country's currency as well cos i usually charge it to the card.... sounds like i'm leading an extragavant life.... but it's just that i've always depended on such things to make my life simpler rather than calculating all the exchange rate and comparing which places are cheaper or give better rates....
So we finally got to JB.. went to have lunch at this small little stall selling wanton mee... 6 of us shared noodles and bread... and after that, it's off for a shopping spree!! We had to walk a short distance to get to city square.... and to our amusement, the traffic lights were motion pictures... when it is green lights, it showed a green man walking.. how cool is that! Reached city square... it's a huge shopping mall with levels of shops selling all kinds of things... clothes, shoes, anything.. u name it they have it... i had the first buy of the day.. went into a shoe shop, saw a pair of flats going at RM 19.90.. tried the size and paid.. all in record time of 5 mins... heheheh.... well, quite pleased with it cos if you convert it over, it's about S$8.90... where do u find such cheap shoes??? anyway, from that shoe shop onwards, the gang spilt up and JJ went shopping on their own while me and the guys went our own way...saw a couple of stuff but decided against to get cos i wanna save money....but YB has been trying to get his shirt but either last piece or just dun fit him....fated not to get any shirts....same thing happened to BK... either too long or he didn't like it...andy was a different story.... he didn't know what to get...which is quite true cos a lot of stuff they have over there, we have it over here as well... of course it's slightly cheaper... but not for all products and besides, i didn't want to lug everything back cos it's cheaper by just a few cents...
after shopping for close to three hours, we met at starbucks and settled down for a while.. to rest our legs... for some reason, my legs seem to be giving way after walking too much... maybe the shoe has got no support for my sole that's why it's hurting... but yes, it hurts badly... after leaving city square.. we headed to the place for our seafood feast... it seems to be like a huge market with lots of food... liked the zhu chang fen and guo tie.... seafood was ok... but the total cost came up to be RM 38 per pax... to the guys, it seems to be ex....to me, i just felt it was not value for money cos the food was not really good... but on the way back i calculated, if i convert that to S$ it would be about S$16.. pretty ok for a seafood meal... so no complaints about it...
overall, it's a good weekend spent.... had lots of fun and of course, lots of good food to go along with it.. start of a new week... not sure how to deal with it cos i've never felt that i hated to go to work... the last time i had such a feeling was when i had to go school and i truly hated the feeling of going to school and start the life of a student with homework and all.... but now, i wish to be a student again... heheh
