Dinner at Petals

*whoops!* this is taking me long to record this incident at petals.. so busy at work and have fallen sick* which nobody believed!*

anyway, me, YB and YY went down to Petals@ the treasury to support BK... It's BK's EC and we went down to taste the food...

as usual, the two of them were late.. so I went in first... thought i saw somebody that looks like William... prob not him... in fact, I wouldn't have minded if he were to join us for dinner at petals but I think he might feel a bit awkward so spare him the torture.. hah!



the menu of the day...



mardi gras salad... consists of scallop, walnuts, tomatoes and some green veg which i cannot identify* I'm a meat eater! *
Overall feel: for somebody who doesn't eat veg a whole lot, the portion is small enough for me.. love the combined taste of it... not too bitter and dressing is just nice enough.. scallop a bit overcooked cos got a little rubbery bite..



boxing soup... chicken console with a seafood dumpling*i call it a dumpling!*
Overall feel: Soup is good on its own but the seafood dumpling seems to have too much of garlic in it so it spoilts the taste of the meat inside. Bearing in mind that Petals is a fusion restaurant, I start to appeciate the 'appearance' of this soup...



main course-sakura chicken.
Overall feel:Saw the initial presentation was that the chicken roll was straight up instead of lying down.. prefer that presentation.. first taste of the chicken was good.. sauce is thick enough and goes well with the chicken... love the slightly burnt skin on the outside... however, the slipper lobster inside was too overcooked and thus it was too soft...
garnishing... cai xin* or is it some other veg?* seems a bit out of place... and the rice doesn't have any taste, despite the herbs I saw on the rice... probably not enough...



main course-valentino's ocean? *checked, yes yes, valentino's ocean*
Overall feel: Had only a small bite of this salmon... but although YY and YB say it has no taste, I could taste a tinge of sweetness.. probably due to the sauce.. not sure.. for somebody who would prefer something lighter in taste, this would be a good choice...


dessert- Xmas sweet duet, brownie with pandan topping and a peach cheesecake I think with raspberry topping
Overall feel: The sourness of the raspberry topping overpowered the taste of the peach cheesecake... after one bite of the raspberry topping, my tongue numb liao.... the other one, brownie with pandan topping was something sweeter... maybe this is why the raspberry was so sour? to bring out the sweetness of the brownie? not sure...


dessert- a plate of assorted 'cakes'
Overall feel: I'm not a really sweet eater so the chocolate was too sweet and I could taste the condensed milk or something else mixed with the chocolate... prefer the cornflake one though.. not so sweet and much more to my liking... the coconut one was nice too..

Overall: it was a nice dining experience at petals esp when it is not cooked by professional chefs but wannabes... if on a scale of ten, i would rate the experience seven...
